….and I am one of them.
There. I said it. I am proud to be a black woman because that is what God made me, but just because I am a black woman does not mean that I automatically have to support the election of a black person into an office for which I feel he is severely unqualified. I listened carefully to what Mr. Obama did and did not say during his campaign and I knew that he was not going to uphold the issues about which I feel very strongly. Those issues will be detailed later in this article.
Hebrews 13:17 says “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves…” (KJV)I have no choice but to obey the laws and statutes that make up the constitution of the United States. I am convicted by God to obey laws, unless of course, those laws force me to disobey God. Under no circumstances will I willingly submit to something that God has forbidden, if I know about it. But all things being equal, I am convicted by God to obey traffic laws, pay my taxes, do not violate anyone’s person, do not take anything that does not belong to me without asking for it or paying for it, tell the truth at all times, etc. I will always be convicted by God to do these things whether Mr. Obama is still president or not. My lack of support for him comes from the fact that he was not forthcoming with the American people on the campaign trail. There were so many things that people asked him that he refused to answer. He evaded so many of his intentions for this country that I was skeptical to elect him. I wanted to see a black man at the helm. I know that there are many capable black men out there who could have moved into the White House and moved this country in a new direction. I also knew that Obama was not that man.
First, he claimed before he got elected that he was a Christian. Well, I had serious doubts about that. Matthew 7:20 says “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”(KJV) There is something about a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ that would not let him or her be a part of the church that he attended for twenty years where the pastor preached politics instead of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The pulpit is absolutely not the place for politics, but it was even less the place for what that man was teaching. In all of the sound bites that I have ever heard on television or Youtube, I cannot remember ever hearing him read a passage of scripture. Not that the media is reliable, nor the people who download videos onto the internet, but at some point, it seems to me that something of some Biblical significance would have slipped out. I have never heard that man nor have I ever heard anyone else say that he ever offered the gospel of Jesus Christ to the people in his congregation. It doesn’t take long for me to know how a person handles the gospel in his church. After about five minutes of listening, I can tell whether he is a teacher of the gospel or if he is a false prophet. I feel comfortable in calling the man that Mr. Obama called “pastor” for more than twenty years a false prophet, based on my knowledge of scripture.
Second, I listened to what he said about same-sex marriage. He said that he believed that marriage is between one man and one woman for life, but at the same time he said that he believed people should be allowed to “love” whomever they chose. Well, Mr. Obama, let me tell you what God says about that same issue. In Romans 1:18-32, the Lord God Who created the heavens and the earth has this to say about same-sex marriage:
“From heaven God shows how angry He is with all the wicked and evil things that sinful people do to crush the truth. They know everything that can be known about God, because God has shown it all to them. God’s eternal power and character cannot be seen. But from the beginning of creation, God has shown what these are like by all He has made. That’s why those people don’t have any excuse. They know about God, but they don’t honor Him or even thank Him. Their thoughts are useless, and their stupid minds are in the dark. They claim to be wise, but they are fools. They don’t worship the glorious and eternal God. Instead, they worship idols that are made to look like humans who cannot live forever, and like birds, animals, and reptiles.
So God let these people go their own way. They did what they wanted to do, and their filthy thoughts made them do shameful things with their bodies. They gave up the truth about God for a lie, and they worshiped God’s creation instead of God, Who will be praised forever. Amen.
God let them follow their own evil desires. Women no longer wanted to have sex in a natural way, and they did things with each other that were not natural. Men behaved in the same way. They stopped wanting to have sex with women and had strong desires for sex with other men. They did shameful things with each other, and what has happened to them is punishment for their foolish deeds.
Since these people refused even to think about God, He let their useless minds rule over them. That’s why they do all sorts of indecent things. They are evil, wicked, and greedy, as well as mean in every possible way. They want what others have, and they murder, argue, cheat, and are hard to get along with. They gossip, say cruel things about others, and hate God. They are proud, conceited, and boastful, always thinking up new ways to do evil.
These people don’t respect their parents. They are stupid, unreliable, and don’t have any love or pity for others. They know God has said that anyone who acts this way deserves to die. But they keep on doing evil things, and they even encourage others to do them.” (These words were copied from the Contemporary English Version of the Bible.)
Now I think that says it all. Don’t get mad at the messenger. Anyone who has a problem with God’s view of same-sex marriage needs to take that up with Him! I guarantee you, however, that He is pretty adamant about His position on the matter. How do I know? I am so glad you asked! Genesis 19 tells the story of what happened when men insisted on same-sex relationships:
“That evening the two angels arrived in Sodom, while Lot was sitting near the city gate. When Lot saw them, he got up, bowed down low, and said, “Gentlemen, I am your servant. Please come to my home. You can wash your feet, spend the night, and be on your way in the morning.” They told him, “No, we’ll spend the night in the city square.” But Lot kept insisting, until they finally agreed and went home with him. He baked some bread, cooked a meal, and they ate. Before Lot and his guests could go to bed, every man in Sodom, young and old, came and stood outside his house and started shouting, “Where are your visitors? Send them out, so we can have sex with them!” (CEV)
Lot tried to convince the men not to do such a horrible thing. He even offered his unwed daughters to these men, which I am sure God would not have condoned either, but they were intent on satisfying the most debased of their desires. So the story continues with verses 9-13:
“…they rushed toward the door to break it down. But the two angels in the house reached out and pulled Lot safely inside. Then they struck everyone in the crowd blind, and none of them could even find the door.
The two angels said to Lot, “The LORD has heard many terrible things about the people of Sodom, and He has sent us here to destroy the city. Take your family and leave…”
Verses 16, 17 and 24 continue:
“the angels took Lot, his wife, and his two daughters by the hand and led them out of the city. When they were outside, one of the angels said, “Run for your lives! Don’t even look back. And don’t stop in the valley. Run to the hills, where you will be safe.”
“…the LORD sent burning sulfur down like rain on Sodom and Gomorrah. He destroyed those cities and everyone who lived in them, as well as their land and the trees and grass that grew there.”(CEV)
Now, this is what God did as punishment for the vile, debased behavior that was going on in Sodom and Gomorrah. God did that. God and no one else. This convinces me that God is displeased with homosexual behavior. Being a born again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, I am constrained to be against anything that displeases the Lord. Therefore, when my vote or opinion is required in choosing leadership, this is one of the criteria that potential leaders must have before they can have my support.
Third, I listened to what he had to say about abortion. Mr. Obama is strongly pro-choice. He believes that a woman has the right to kill a human being based on the fact that said human being has not been born yet, and that human may inconvenience her in some way. My heart bleeds for the millions of babies that are aborted in this country every day. I know: abortion is legal in America and has been for almost 44 years now. I know: the feminists have convinced the women in America that their bodies are their own, and they can do with them what they please. I am sure that God has something to say about that in His Word also. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says “…know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, Which is in you, Which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?” (KJV) You do not have the choice, if you are in Christ, to do anything with your body that He does not condone in His Word. You do not have the right to fornicate, to commit adultery, or to commit murder with your body. Your body is the case that houses your spirit, and within your spirit lives the Holy Spirit of God once you have confessed your sin and asked Him to be Lord of your life. Exodus 20:13 says “Thou shalt not kill.”(KJV) That baby that is growing in your womb, from the time he or she was conceived, until the moment he or she dies, is a living, breathing human being. He is not a mass of tissue. She is not an “it”. He is alive. She is alive. He has a spirit from the moment of conception. God has plans for him or her, even before conception. God not only has plans for him or her, but God set punishment in place for those who wrecklessly hurt the unborn. Exodus 21:22-25 says “Suppose a pregnant woman suffers a miscarriage as the result of an injury caused by someone who is fighting. If she isn’t badly hurt, the one who injured her must pay whatever fine her husband demands and the judges approve. But if she is seriously injured, the payment will be life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, burn for burn, cut for cut, and bruise for bruise.”(KJV) God was serious! He did not mean for anyone or anything to hurt the unborn.
God also formed the personality, the character, the physical characeristics, and even the number of days of the unborn while he or she is still in the womb. God told the prophet Jeremiah, “Jeremiah, I am your Creator, and before you were born, I chose you to speak for Me to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5, CEV)
I think you get my point.
God is displeased with the fact that we are throwing away our children like yesterday’s newspapers. If we keep killing babies at the rate of 4 million babies per day, who will be left here on earth to continue running this country or this world after our generation is gone?
These are the reasons why I could not support Barack Hussein Obama in his bid for the White House. Obviously, a very uninformed, careless, God-less country thought otherwise and chose him based on other criteria than God’s Word. Our Biblical worldview is not biblical anymore. We heard Mr. Obama say that he is going to bring about “change” and give us “hope”. Little does he know, the only hope this country has is in turning back to the Lord Jesus Christ. Mr. Obama will not be able to make a decision that God doesn’t allow, according to Proverbs 21:1, which says “The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: He turneth it whithersoever He will.”(KJV) Mr. Obama may be an advocate of heresy, same-sex marriage and abortion, but these things do not please the God Who created the heavens and the earth. Any given moment, the God of the Bible can get tired of the foolishness of this nation and destroy it the way He did Sodom and Gomorrah. I hope that Mr. Obama is not leading America that way, I pray that he is not. Yes, that’s right: I pray for him. Every day. I pray for Mr. Obama’s salvation. I pray for Mrs. Obama’s salvation. I pray for the salvation of their children. I pray for Joe Biden’s salvation, and the salvation of his wife and family. I pray for these things because I am concerned about the plight of this nation. I am concerned that God, if He has not already, will soon turn His face from this nation. I pray for revival in this country. I know that the Bible is true when it says “Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD…” (Psalm 33:12, KJV)
